In this exposition of 1 Corinthians 15:12–34, Kalep Kanode examines the foundational importance of the bodily resurrection and its life-changing implications for every Christian. Addressing the Apostle Paul’s confrontation of the Corinthian church’s denial of the resurrection, Kanode organizes the passage around three answers: the Messiah’s answer, the King’s answer, and the fool’s answer. First, he demonstrates that Christ’s resurrection and the future resurrection of believers are inseparably connected through the believer’s union with Christ. Christianity is not merely a transaction that secures spiritual benefits, but a living union with the risen Savior whose victory over death guarantees the resurrection of His people. Second, Kanode traces the biblical story from Adam’s rebellion and the entrance of death into the world to Christ’s triumph as the true and better Adam, the victorious King who destroys death itself and establishes an everlasting kingdom free from sin, suffering, and sorrow. Finally, he explains how confidence in the resurrection should transform Christian living today, shaping baptism, perseverance through suffering, holiness, and everyday obedience. Far from encouraging believers to withdraw from earthly responsibilities, the hope of resurrection gives profound meaning and urgency to ordinary Christian faithfulness. Kanode concludes by calling Christians to live with their eyes fixed on the world to come, demonstrating through their commitment to the church, prayer, hospitality, purity, contentment, and evangelism that Jesus Christ is risen, death has been defeated, and the resurrection changes everything.
