In this exposition of John 10:19–30, Zack DiPrima explores what it means to live as one of the Good Shepherd’s sheep. Jesus declares that His sheep hear His voice, are known by Him, follow Him, receive eternal life, and can never be snatched from His hand. DiPrima explains how these words reveal God’s sovereign grace in election and show that election should produce celebration, comfort, and confidence rather than pride or passivity. The sermon also considers the reality of spiritual warfare and the Christian’s need to recognize the activity of Satan while remaining firmly under Christ’s care. Turning to the everyday Christian life, DiPrima identifies several ways the Shepherd speaks to His people—through Scripture, the warnings and exhortations of the church, Christian singing, and faithful preaching. Ultimately, John 10 presents Jesus as the strong yet tender Shepherd who protects His people, preserves them to the end, and gives them eternal life in fellowship with Himself.
